Shalford B 0 – 4 Fleet Spurs Vet
Having lost some players last minute (to injury, the A’s and old age) it was a nervy start to the game from the Vets against a new look Shalford side. At 0 – 0 and half time Dan Gardiner looked peaky, but a swig of water turned him into a new man, commanding man of the match nominations form every single one of his team mates … apart from his Dad who nominated Allaway. Snapper opened the scoring from a tight angle after a cross from Allaway and he doubled his tally with the oppo quite rightly feeling hard done by. Then came a wonder goal from Dan who blasted it in from 35 yards, almost taking the keepers hand off in the process. A late penalty from Allaway sealed the win and The Spurs go marching on.
The Monkey Award went back home – with Macca winning it for the 3 time this season (already) after 3 ‘clearances’ sliced if his banana skin covered boots and ended up in the pond. Special mention to Jeffsy who hasn’t conceded a goal in the league since the first game of the season.
After having driven the ref to the match, Scissors refused to get in with him on the back after his booking. It was then I was able to get close and personal with him about my team. His main conclusion was that he was shocked by the lack of skill. Great
