Petersfield Town 2 Fleet Spurs 1, Fleet Spurs 2 United Services Portsmouth 4, AFC Aldermaston 0 Fleet Spurs 4
(Wessex League Division 1)
A very busy period of six days for Spurs finished much better than it started. On Tuesday, Fleet Spurs visited Petersfield, and at least broke even in terms of possession and opportunities created. However, the score did not reflect this, mainly because of a lack of sharpness in front of goal.
The home side took the lead through Aaron Fennemore after indecision in Spurs’ defence, but youngster Ben Clisby soon equalised with a shot into the top corner from the edge of the box – his first goal for the club. After the break, Paul Baker restored Petersfield’s lead with a powerful shot, and despite all Spurs’ efforts, with player-manager Neil Baker dominant at the back but also finding time to go forward, the equaliser just wouldn’t come.
