Spurs will regard this result as two points lost rather than one point gained.
Fleet changed to their more customary 4-4-2 formation and playing down the hill, were generally on top, though Horndean created a few chances on the break. After 25 minutes, Spurs made their possession pay when an inswinging corner from Tom Chillery was turned in by Sam Knowles, the contact apparently being with the striker’s shin. Fleet were now playing some excellent football and had total dominance until half-time and might have doubled or even trebled the margin. Keeper Steve May made an outstanding save from a powerful drive from Stuart Tanfield, managing at full stretch to deflect the ball on to the near post. Spurs then thought they had doubled their lead, but were frustrated by a linesman’s flag when a Horndean defender appeared to have inadvertently headed the ball goalwards, and they also squandered a number of good chances.

Another close and thrilling game, but this time there was to be no happy ending for Spurs.
Fleet started off in a 3-5-2 formation and Verwood’s quick wingers were soon able to get behind Spurs’ defence. However, their first goal on the four-minute mark was nothing to do with Spurs’ formation but simply down to slack marking as defender Mark Jamison powered home a header from a pinpoint right-wing cross by the impressive Dan Baguley. Two minutes later it was the visitors’ turn to show defensive slackness as a Tom Chillery free-kick found its way to Ben Clisby who made no mistake from close range.

After their heroics at Fawley in midweek, Spurs came down to earth with a bang against Shaftesbury. Their performance lacked sparkle, but was sufficient to claim victory against a side that fought hard all game.
Fleet started the better side, although Shaftesbury breaking dangerously on occasion. However, after Spurs had in their customary fashion squandered a number of good chances, the visitors took the lead somewhat against the run of play. Fleet’s defence failed to mark Luke Crane properly, the striker headed the ball across goal and 17-year-old Jason Beale hammered the ball into the top of the net giving keeper Mark Appleby no chance. Shaftesbury were now more than holding their own, and Spurs’ play became ragged for a while, until defender Dan Sleet headed in an inswinging free kick by Tom Chillery for the equaliser. 1-1 at half-time was on balance a fair score.

A cold and foggy Wednesday evening down in Fawley was the setting for an excellent advert for the Sydenhams Wessex League Division 1. With Fawley having a fantastic home record, having only dropped three points all season, and Spurs having the second best away record in the league, it was always going to be a good game for the neutral, and this proved to be the case.

Another dramatic afternoon for Spurs, reminiscent of the heady days before the big freeze when every game seemed to be a roller-coaster affair.
The afternoon started quietly but pleasantly as manager Neil Baker accepted the January Division 1 team of the month award – delayed because of seasonal weather in February – from Wessex League Commercial Officer Nick Spencer.
The game, however, was lively from the outset with Fleet having the territorial advantage but Amesbury looking dangerous on the break. Striker Sam Knowles and skipper Ben Edwards squandered good opportunities and Town keeper Liam Roberts made a number of good saves, but the scoresheet remained blank at the break.

Spurs got back to winning ways with a comfortable if not entirely convincing victory over Aldermaston.
Spurs soon gained the ascendancy and took the lead after ten minutes when top scorer Adam Crittenden swept home a low right-wing cross from Jack Chambers to score his nineteenth of the season. Aldermaston defended resolutely and had a number of quick breaks but never really threatened the Fleet goal and only some excellent saves by keeper Ben Smith kept the score down. Spurs did not help themselves by giving the ball away too easily and poor finishing.
