Summer Soccer Academy 2010

Close season, what close season? At Fleet Spurs Youth the football just keeps rolling on with our annual 6 week Soccer Academy following straight after our Summer Tournament which came straight after the season finished!

The Academy is targeted at school year ages R through to 3 and we had plenty of new players plus lots of existing players in attendance. The sessions were run by a number of coaches from our mini soccer squads, and one or two from the older teams, and also a representative from the FA Skills Centre for the final session. With between 50 to 60 children in attendance each week the course proved to be a huge success. To accommodate the influx of new talent the mini soccer side of the club is due to create 5 new teams this summer talking us to a record level of 11 mini soccer squads and that's not including our under 6 group who will also be training throughout the year.

The 90 minute sessions were held over a 6 Saturday period from  June 26th to July 31st at the club's home at Southwood pitches in Kennels Lane. For a small fee the children, novices or experienced players, were taught about the fun, fitness and social aspects of playing football. The vast majority have now signed on with the club and we hope will continue to have a long playing career with us.
