So Close in Hampshire Cup Final  (Mar 09)

The boys did themselves proud in the Hampshire Cup Final, losing 1-2 aet but what scenes when Olly scored the equaliser in the last few minutes of normal time. Have a look for yourself .....

Salako Meets The Boca  (Mar 09)

The new John Porter Stadium has graced a few players over the year since it has been opened but now ex England, Reading and Crystal Palace star John Salako has trodden the hallowed turf of "JP Stadium".
The Boca boys were the hosts as a special pre cup final training session was organised that John took, much to the delight of the boys and Dads and also resulted in the best turn out from the Mums ever known, since the Boca were formed.
John played for England 10 times along side other legends as Gazza and Wrighty, who he remains good friends with. He works for Sky television on Sky Sports covering all types of matches.
The Boca boys were treated to a magic training session and the Boca faithful watched John's amazing skill level and quick feet. We all reckon he could be still playing now!

The Boca and Fleet Spurs would like to say cheers to John for the training session and look forward to a repeat in the months to come. Thanks for signing all the shirts and tops, Olly still hasn't washed and A is still smiling now!!

N.E. Hampshire Youth Boca  (Dec 08/Jan 09)

Fleet Spurs Boca must have the proudest coach and manager in the world, as 5 of the squad have been chosen, from the 1000's of players available, to represent the league in their up coming games.
Every season the NEHYL "pit their wits" against all the local leagues in the surrounding counties to see which league has the talent for the age group.
These games are renowned for talent scouts from QPR, Reading, Southampton and Chelsea looking for the next Terry, Rooney or Lampard. The Boca boys are now in the shop window and we know they will do Fleet Spurs proud.

The first game was a friendly played at Cove F.C. on the 21st December 2008.
The Boca faithful swelled the crowd and Chillers and Shane swelled (Mainly due to the burgers and coke on sale!). The boys were excellent and played a massive part in the 4-0 win over CPR. "H"  was in great form, Adam S and Ryan D look superb at full backs (In great Boca style got forward a bit more than the coach probably
expected!!) with Drew  and Sparky  taking control in the centre of the field, the rep side looked in good shape before they take on all comers in the New Year.

Coach Chillers beamed "I have been proud of these boys and my whole squad so far this season. We are hoping for more Boca boys to join the current 5 next season".
Congratulations to the five, so far in the squad, and good luck against the other leagues in the new year.

Xmas Party 2008 (Dec 08)

Xmas is a time to party and the Boca always like a party! This year over 50 players, parents, grandparents and siblings hired out the whole of the Dhanshiri Indian Restaurant in Fleet for their end of year celebrations. The Dhanshiri are proud sponsors of the team and the photo below shows the owner, Anran, in his replica top posing with the team outside the restaurant.

Wey Valley 11-a-side Tournament (Aug 08)

The boys have had a great summer in which they have enjoyed some fantastic tournament success, in particular the defence of their Badshot Lee crown. The summer has also been about maintaining fitness and selecting and integrating more boys into the Boca way of playing, in time for the start of the 11-a-side season. This has been particularly successful and we enter the new season with a terrific squad of 14 and look forward to the challenge that playing in the premier league will bring.

The Wey Valley tournament was all about gauging where our form is before the season starts and trying some of the boys in different positions – but hey, while you’re there you might as well win it as well!

3 - 20 minute games against good local opposition, 3 wins, 7 goals scored and 0 conceded. 3 very good performances, the highlight of which was a hard fought 1-0 victory over the home side that had already beaten us twice in friendlies over the summer.

One of the best results from yesterday was how well the new boys fitted in and how well the team gelled. Probably, for the first time, 11-a-side Boca looked like 7-a-side Boca in terms of passing, movement and positioning.

The Boca faithful, as usual, travelled in force and provided great support to the boys. The new season beckons and the excitement builds, we’ve got a great team and great support – we can’t wait – Up the BOCA!!!!!

Arsenal Tournament Success (Aug 08)

Fleet Spurs Boca had a fantastic tournament and represented Fleet Spurs against some of the very best teams around.

Boca had some fantastic results along the way. There were 23 of the very best teams in the age group from all around the UK and Boca were pitched in the toughest group (Group A the group of death).

Boca were very unlucky not to qualify in the top 2 of their group as they only narrowly missed out.

This was not the end of the afternoon for  Boca, they carried on their fantastic run into the semi finals of the plate competition roared on by the Boca faithful. Despite scoring first they were exhausted on what was the hottest day of the year and could not hold on to the lead.

Adam was magnificent standing in for regular keeper H. Ben, our high profile summer signing settled in quickly and looked like he has played for Boca for years. Tom and Tyler were great and looked fantastic playing at a much higher level and their fitness proved vital. Drew and Sparky looked at home playing against top opponents and ran the midfield in their usual confident and creative way. Jay was an absolute rock in defence and was one of the best defenders on show in the competition. Zac showed his class and ability playing against some of the best defences around. Ollie was amazing and we are looking forward to seeing his fantastic creative play in the premier league next season.

The boys and the Boca faithful were an absolute credit to Fleet Spurs and the NEHYL.

The FA Meets the Boca   (July 08)

The FA have now officially met the Boca boys. The event was part of Fleet Spurs Registration Day at its new Southwood home, where the FA were invited to coach a few of the squads within the youth set up.
Boca's team from last season along with a few new recruits jumped at the chance to train along side some top FA coaches. A great day all round, thanks to Fleet Spurs for organising the day, which ended in a sponsored penalty shoot out to raise some funds for the season ahead.
In true Boca style the turnout was great, both from the boys and the fans, and the overall winner was of course the Boca goalkeeper "H".

Champions Collect Their Medals (June 08)

Fleet Spurs Boca were at the Princes Hall in Aldershot recently to collect their league winners trophy and medals. It was a fitting end to such a fantastic season. The boys deserved all the success they got this season.

Badshot Lea Tournament Double (June 08)

Boca returned to Badshot Lea to defend their winners trophy from last year. They played some fantastic football again this year against some very strong opponents. Once again Boca won the tournament outright beating Aldershot Town in the final 2 nil.

The Boca faithful are now looking forward to next season and hope Boca can make it an amazing 3 in a row.

Players Honoured at Fleet Spurs Awards Night (June 08)

All the team were presented with their end of season Fleet Spurs awards with special prizes for Squad Clubman of the Year, Managers Award and Player of the Year. A fitting finale to a great season.

Boca Star Lines Up at Wembley  (May 08)

Fleet Spurs U10 Boca star Adam S lined up with the England team against USA this week at Wembley.

Keen eyed Boca fans may have seen him come out with the England team next to Owen Hargreaves. He was on screen for a lot of time especially during the David Beckham 100 cap presentation.

It was a great moment seeing our first Boca player line up for England at Wembley !!!

Congratulations Adam !!!

Another Tournament Success for Boca  (May 08)

To round off a great season Boca triumph at the Sandhurst tournament and add yet another winners trophy to a bulging trophy cabinet.

We did not really see vintage Boca until a fantastic performance in the final. It has been a great season all round with Boca still to play in the Badshot Lea tournament next week where they will be playing as champions from last season.

The highlight of Pre/End season is still to come with Boca representing Fleet Spurs in the highly prestigious Arsenal International Tournament against foreign and academy teams.

More Than Just a Football Team...  (Apr 08)

... they're mean swimmers too!

The Boca boys together with their brothers and friends took an active part in the recent Fleet Spurs Sponsored Swim event aimed at raised much needed funds for the Southwood development project. With over 100 swimmers, and over £2500 raised, the event was a great success all round ... and a lot of fun too!!!

A Game of Two Halves  (Apr 08)

Boca were recently invited to take part in a film project looking at sportsmanship in football through from youth grassroots to the highest level. There were contributions from the NEHYL, top level officials, Bournemouth FC, Newcastle United and the FA.

The boys enjoyed their moment of fame, having their match recorded and interviews afterwards.

We have just received an advance copy on DVD and it is amazing to see the work that goes into it and how professional the finished film is.

Manager Shane Bennett said “it is fitting that we took part in the film as we model ourselves on teams like Real Madrid that are successful but without breaking the rules and play the game in its true spirit. It is unusual for a team to achieve what we did this year and have such a high sportsmanship mark. This is a real credit to the team and supporters”.

Boca Take Reading by Storm   (Apr 08)

Last week saw Boca stars Drew Matthews and Harry Bennett pull on the Reading shirts again at the Dome, Reading.

It really is a pleasure to see how good and established they both look playing at such a high level.

Both boys were an absolute credit to the club and contributed well to a Reading 5-1 win. It is amazing that in a Reading team of 8 there were 2 Fleet Spurs Boca Boys!

Boca Festive Surprise!  (Dec 07)

After their last match before Christmas the parents of FS BOCA arranged a fantastic surprise for the boys as well as Chillers and Shane.

Soon after the final whistle a limo turned up to pick them all up and after a drive around the area arrived at a local pub where all the parents were waiting for a great afternoon/evening.

Shane and Chillers would like to officially thank the parents for their generous (if not sneaky) treat. They were really thrown off the scent as there had already been a great night at the Dhanshiri in Fleet.

Boca Boys in Reading Academy Squad   (Oct 07)

Fleet Spurs Under 10 Boca were proud to have two players from their team named in the Reading Academy squad to play at the Dome next to the Madejski Stadium on Friday 26th October 2007.

Congratulations to Drew and H for their superb performances.

There were four games in total and both of the boys did Fleet Spurs proud. Drew absolutely dominated the midfield in his game. He did the simple things really well and made the impossible look easy! Drew scored a great goal but that only begins to tell the story. He was a huge part of every decent move Reading had.

His best moment was when he went around a couple of players on the left side and wrong footed the last man. He shot from well outside the area and rattled the crossbar with a Riise style shot.

H played in goal in one of the games and looked very assured and confident. He made himself big on an early one on one and the save increased his confidence. H then made a fantastic reaction save from close range.

Shane the Boca manager said “everyone that was at the Dome associated with Fleet Spurs was incredibly proud that Drew was in a class of his own and H had the best record for a Reading keeper on the night. The boys deserve a huge pat on the back for their fantastic achievements”. Shane went on to say “It is mine and Chillers goal to get more boys involved at football at a higher level over the next few weeks and we are in the process of setting up some events with other academies as a team. We do not need to push the boys but really need to push ourselves as coaches over the remainder of the season to ensure our boys reach their potential”.
