2006/07 Chairman's Report
At the end of this season of tremendous growth within the club I want to pay tribute to the hard work and commitment of each of the committee and all the managers for their enormous contribution to Youth Football in the area, with so many additional requirements being placed on clubs by the Football Association their continued ability to adapt has been one of our strongest assets this year.
I would also like to offer sincere thanks to everyone who has assisted the Club in any capacity during the season, team sponsors, parents who support the manager by running the line and putting up and removing nets, those who have supplied catering for match days and the refurbishment to our facilities. It is only with their help and continued support that this Club continues to thrive and to run smoothly.
As always, there have been many highlights during the season, but I would like to select a few for special mention.
Ø Our –growth in our mini soccer section has continued to build on the excellent progress made last season, and provides a strong basis for the future.
Ø Our Under 17s squad finished as runners- up in the Premier Division of the NEHYL.
Ø Our Under 14s Cobras finished as runners - up in their Division of the NEHYL and have been promoted.
Ø Our Under 9s Eagles finished third in their Division of the NEHYL in their first season together as a team.
Ø Our annual Easter tour was a tremendous success with a permanent link being formed with a Dutch Club for reciprocal visits.
Ø Links with Fleet Spurs men’s teams grow ever stronger, as evidenced by our first season with an amalgamated emblem and now a new kit which will run throughout the entire club.
Finally as the club moves ever closer to gaining control of Kennels Lane as our permanent home the continued commitment and support of you our parents and benefactors in coming months will ensure a strong and successful season to come.
Yours in Sport
John Gawthorpe
