Big Welcome Back for James

The players, managers and parents of the Fleet Spurs Under 13 squad were delighted to welcome back James Bascran to the sidelines for the first match of the New Year.

James was a key figure in the Under 13's excellent early season form but suffered serious head injuries in a road accident as he was returning home from school over 3 months ago. The injuries were described as "life threatening" and he needed to be rushed to Frimley Park Hospital A&E Department where the expertise of the medical team effectively saved his life. Now after 3 months of steady recuperation James is thankfully close to a return to school and has paid a return visit to Frimley Park to thank the doctors and nurses who provided the care he needed on the day and the following weeks. His story has even been documented in a BBC website article which can be viewed here.

The Under 13's Manager Dave Matthews spoke for everyone associated with the squad when he said "We were all thrilled to see James come down to support the team this Saturday. We've been monitoring his progress throughout and seeing him back amongst his team mates was a huge boost". Those sentiments are echoed by all at Fleet Spurs.

Welcome back James!
