Fleet Spurs Quiz Night 2009
No kids, no football, a private room with a bar, this was definitely a night out for parents!
The first Fleet Spurs Quiz Night was held in mid November and was particularly well attended. The room was full to capacity with 15 teams of up to 6 players in each. Quiz master Keirin Gurrie, with his army of female helpers, ran the proceedings like clockwork. 10 rounds of questions ranging from standards like General Knowledge, Music and Entertainment to the more obscure Mr Men and Plasticine Movie Titles! This was a real eye opener as to who knew their Mr Topsy Turvy from Mr Bump, and how do you produce a plasticine model to depict the film "Quantum of Solace"? !!!
A great evening and thanks to everyone who attended, representing most teams in the youth club and also a healthy contingent from the men's club. Particular thanks to quiz master Keirin, Sarah and the girls helping him out and Nikki for organising the event,
Oh yes, and we did have a winner .... the "Spartans" are the first name to go on the shield. A very impressive victory and what would you expect from a team captained by someone in a rugby shirt with "Brains (beer)" as the sponsor. Was he trying to warn us they were good?
Captain, Richard Meyrick, receives the trophy on behalf of the winning "Spartans" from John Lee, President of the Youth Club and quiz master Keirin Gurrie.
A packed Crookham Village Hall containing the best brains in Fleet (spurs) !!!
