Summer Tournament 2009

June 27th/28th was probably the hottest weekend of the year so far and was also the weekend of the first ever Fleet Spurs Summer Tournament.

With 92 teams taking part over the two days the organisation was a very big challenge but, with an army of volunteers from club officials, managers and player's parents, the event ran very smoothly indeed. Read on for feedback received from other clubs which shows that a great time was had by all and most of all, due to the nature of the invite only approach, every team had a realistic chance of winning either the Cup or Plate in each age group.

Many thanks to everyone who organised the event or helped out on the day. See you again in 2010!

"Thanks to all you guys at Fleet Spurs for a fantastically well organised tournament. From the coaches and players side, all matches started on schedule, the gaps between the matches were just about right to give the kids a break and recover in time for the next match, there was entertainment for the kids between matches and the refs did an excellent job running the matches."

                                                                                               Fleet Town

"I just wanted to say thank you for inviting us to join your tournament on Saturday, what a well organised day, I know what effort goes into such an event - so compliments to everyone.  The squad had a brilliant day and the boys were pleased to come home with their trophies and are looking forward to next years event."                                                          Badshot Lea

"I just wanted to pass on my thanks for such a great day on Saturday. All of the team had a great time, and I thought the day was very well organised. We had a good mixture of wins, draws, and losses, so it illustrates that all the teams were very evenly matched, which was great to see.

Finishing off the day with medals and photos holding the FA Cup was the 'icing on the cake' "                                                                   Headley

"Many thanks to yourself & Fleet Spurs for an excellent tournament."

                                                                        Rushmoor Saints

"Please can you pass on our thanks to everyone involved in the Fleet Spurs Tournament.  It was really well organised and we all had a great time. Everyone I spoke to enjoyed it.  Thanks very much"               A Parent

"Just wanted to say thanks for a most enjoyable tournament and look forward to taking part next year. Very well run and great football for the boys."

                                                                            Camberley Boys

"I would like you to pass on our congratulations to yourself and the rest of the Fleet Spurs team for running such an enjoyable day yesterday. It was a lovely family day out, and at the end of the day, as John Gawthorpe says in the programme,' the youngsters can go out and enjoy themselves.' "    A Parent

"We all really enjoyed both days and to come away with a couple of trophies made it all the more special. We would definitely like to come back next season."                                                         Goldsworth Park Rangers
