An excellent game this week, I
felt both teams were evenly matched and that showed in what
turned out to be an exciting game for all involved. The
first half saw Spurs playing a very midfield, central pitch
game, with, in the most part, good clearances from the
defence and good pushes from the midfield. Some great
tackles and some excellent feeds from Jake Goddard
saw him winning the Player of the Week
award. Although Spurs had some really strong attacks nothing
really came of them. Aldershot managed to get behind our
defence on a number of occasions but due to a concerted
effort from the team, and an excellent performance from
Jared Bates in goal, only managed to score one goal.
The score at half time Fleet
Spurs 0 - 1 Aldershot Cobras.
The second half saw Spurs
bringing on a great attacking partnership in Ben Shefras and
Jake Brown, who played together very well and immediately
had Aldershot on the run, unfortunately this once again left
our players pushing forward, and Aldershot slipped past to
score a second goal. Spurs had got the taste for going for
goal by this point and we pushed and pushed at Aldershot,
who, in my opinion started to panic, and their game play
seriously suffered. Ben Shefras scored an excellent goal
half way through the second half and a draw if not a win
looked to be on the cards, but hard defending from Aldershot
kept the ball out of the net, and unfortunately the game
ended as Fleet were putting in a massive push for goal.
The score at Full Time Fleet
Spurs 1 - 2 Aldershot Cobras.
Congratulations to all the
players, an excellent performance all round, in what was at
least slightly better conditions than we have become used
to.
