Fleet Spurs Under 7's had an
excellent performance this weekend, attacking the
oppositions penalty area for a good 80% of the game.
Frustration ruled the day though, with an excellent
defensive performance by Rushmoor and a superb performance
from Rushmoor's keeper ensuring that Spurs didn't score a
goal.
Rushmoor managed two very
dangerous break away attacks, one in each half of the game,
giving Andre in the first half and Jared in the second half,
trying goals to score, in what was for them, a very quiet
match.
A quick fall back to defensive
positions, and a good solid defensive play when required
ensured that Rushmoor were also kept goalless. In a game
where Ben Shefras had at least 10 shots on
goal, where Daniel Barden slipped past the
opposition players with ease, where Aidan Lai
played a positional game that could be likened to a
professional, Euan Champion dribbled for
England in a blinding midfield performance, and where
Robbie Coupland burst forward with
aggressive attacks time and time again, Spurs were very very
unlucky not to score, and looked like they could have walked
away from the game with a 5 - 0 win. Unfortunately that
wasn't the case, and the score line was kept to a goalless
draw. A great and persistent attacking game won Ben Shefras
Player of the Week, in a game where the hole team deserved
extra credit.
